The VCU Institute for Engineering & Medicine brings together interdisciplinary faculty and graduate and post-doctorate students from engineering, life sciences, and medical sciences. Burt Hill’s design provides an environment in which to share knowledge, resources, and state-of-the-art equipment in an effort to tackle the most challenging problems in the health and life sciences from quantitative engineering perspectives. The building is strategically located adjacent to another engineering building that accommodates nanotechnology initiatives, thereby facilitating interaction between microelectronics and biochip technologies.
