Straumann Group, a leading international provider in the fields of implant dentistry and dental tissue regeneration, opened their North American headquarters in Andover, Massachusetts. They needed a cutting edge facility that would support administrative, training, and manufacturing functions while maintaining the company's Swiss identity.
The 161,000-square-foot facility houses the company's U.S. management, as well as a state-of-the-art production and development unit used for manufacturing purposes. The building includes a 35,000-square-foot training center comprised of multiple operating suites, a simulation laboratory, dental labs, and an auditorium with direct access to an outdoor landscaped courtyard. An 80,000-square-foot manufacturing area allows the company to meet the increasing demand for its products. The space had to conform to standards determined by the Swiss parent company for workplace quality and the precision required for their product. The incorporation of natural daylight was important on the manufacturing floor to allow manufacturing staff to remain energized and connected to the outside world. This was reflected in the configuration of space arrangement and in the function and selection of the interior materials. Natural woods, cool metals, frosted glass, and the liberal use of black, white, and grey reflect the contemporary European roots of Straumann. Classic furnishings and a splash of red pull together this timeless aesthetic.
