Three key elements in the renovation design of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's administrative building are flexibility, state-of-the-art technology, and energy responsiveness.  High-performance glass, a highly insulated exterior enclosure, an energy-efficient HVAC system, water-saving plumbing, natural light, solar control devices, comfort zone design, and the reuse of existing wood panels, marble, and granite were incorporated into the design, resulting in an AIA Green Citation and LEED certification.  Standard workstations, along with a raised access floor for distribution of telecommunications cabling and electrical and HVAC, permit low cost and frequent changes in workstation size, configuration, or location.
