In order to manage the redevelopment of the former Charleston Navy Base, the Noisette Company and its partners in the Noisette Urban Alliance needed an onsite office. Project goals included meeting and promoting LEED interior standards, including the use of green products wherever possible, and providing an innovative open floor plan with no dividing walls to house multiple tenants.
The existing space had mechanical service, but required asbestos removal and the encapsulation of lead paint. Two enclosed conference rooms were added, while the remainder of the light-filled space was maintained as open office space. The overall design is intended to promote the education of occupants and the public on sustainable product alternatives. The project has earned a LEED-CI Certified rating.
