GreenSim

Green Building Alliance

The Green Building Alliance awarded a product innovation grant to a Burt Hill/Pennsylvania State University (PSU) team in 2007, as a part of a recent initiative to target product manufacturers as the primary supplier of a rapidly-growing green building market.  The BH/PSU team proposed to develop simulation software called GreenSim, which has two target audiences: project teams and manufacturers.  The software would allow project teams to identify the best moments to make material and product decisions and would highlight the implications of these decisions on their design.  Manufacturers of new green building products would use GreenSim to gain vital access to the green building design process, helping them to target their commercialization and sales efforts at design decision makers.  On-going field research for this grant is being conducted in our Butler office, as PSU researchers meet with various BH departments to document their material and product research and selection processes.  The data will be analyzed and incorporated into a beta version of GreenSim that will be tested by PSU students in the spring of 2009, and ultimately made commercially available.
