The FCNL includes in their mission:  "We seek an Earth restored."  The renovated, historic building, home to its headquarters, is a testament to environmental concern, demonstrating that historic preservation can incorporate environmentally friendly design and materials.  Green design strategies include a green roof, light scoop, geothermal heating and cooling systems, bamboo flooring, and energy-efficient windows.  Workspaces are daylit, with operable windows and views to the outdoors.  The vegetated roof includes a large copper-clad south-facing light monitor, which directs natural light down through two levels of glass-floored elevator lobbies at the building's core.  Outside, landscaped seating areas accessible to the community and outdoor work spaces strengthen the connection between the building and its neighborhood.  The building achieved a LEED Silver Certification.
