When the Alliance Community Hospital was faced with a major decision in regards to its 80-year-old hospital, Burt Hill was retained to perform a study to determine whether to repair or replace the aging facility. The results indicated that after decades of additions and renovations, the existing physical plant could no longer facilitate the sweeping changes in technology, medical advances, and patient care issues of the 21st century.
Alliance’s replacement hospital creates a state-of-the-art medical campus serving the community and surrounding counties. Key elements of the campus include three buildings: a 102-bed acute care hospital offering outpatient care, imaging, an emergency department, surgery suite, and a women’s wellness center; a 90-bed nursing home and rehabilitation center; and a professional office building housing physician and administrative offices, as well as ambulatory services. All three buildings are connected by an underground tunnel for service functions and above grade connecting links for pedestrian traffic. Adequate parking and landscaped green areas also help to tie the entire site together as a patient-friendly health center.
