A majority of Dubai's revenues are from trade, real estate, and financial services; a shift from past dependency on oil.  To become a center of commerce and tourism, the city is undergoing a construction boom in commercial and hospitality / resort projects, including the world's tallest building and only seven-star hotel.  A large expatriate population has led to a diverse and multicultural society, drawing attention for its vibrant and fast-paced lifestyle.
