Butler

Located in western Pennsylvania, Butler was named for Major General Richard Butler who fell at the Battle of Wabash in 1791.  Though the city is small (only 2.7 square miles) it has a well-developed arts and culture program, and is home to the historic Butler Little Theater, the Penn Theater, and the Butler County Symphony Association.  The Butler County Courthouse, located in the heart of the city, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as is the Senator Walter Lowrie Shaw House, which is maintained as a museum.
