John Knickmeyer
Principal
John is a creative and highly-proficient architect with strong programming, conceptualization, design, technical, and construction administration skills, and a principal in Burt Hill's Washington, DC, office. A member of the Society of College and University Planners (SCUP), John’s primary focus is on higher education projects. He believes that the business of higher education is critical to our growth and well-being as a nation, and needs to be strengthened to the greatest extent possible. His experience in academic, science laboratory, recreational, library, and residential projects on multiple campuses around the Mid-Atlantic region helps our clients to achieve their respective educational missions. He enjoys developing strong professional and practice-based relationships with college and university clients, and it is his dedication to these relationships that helps the firm gain new legacy clients. His new professional interest is exploring the feasibility of design-build partnerships as a means to facilitate an improved construction delivery method for our clients. A registered architect and LEED Accredited Professional, John received his architectural degree from the University of Virginia in 1985.
